Ultimate Soft & Chewy Sugar Cookies
All I have to say is "OOOOOOOOooooooo!!" These are scrumptious!
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter softened
- 1½ cups sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 2 if ya sexy 😉
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 small bowl cane sugar for covering dough ball surface before putting in oven
- powdered sugar optional - to cover cookies after they're baked.
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together your butter, sugar, vanilla and egg. Then add in your all- purpose flour, salt, baking powder, and cinnamon. Mix until combined.
- Place your dough in your fridge for about an hour. This is to avoid the cookies spreading out like flat pancakes when they do go in the oven to bake. This will keep them thicker in the end.
- After the dough is cooled in the fridge, preheat your oven to 350℉. Line your baking sheet with parchment paper and butter the parchment paper surface before placing the dough balls on them.
- Roll the dough into balls - the larger the ball, the larger the cookie. In a small bowl, add cane sugar. Roll the dough balls in the sugar until the surface of the ball is covered in sugar.
- Place the sugar covered balls evenly on your parchment paper with enough room between the cookies so they don't overlap when spread.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes. Remember - larger cookies may need additional time in the oven. Based off the size of the cookies I made, they only needed 8-10 minutes to bake. Remove and let cool!
- Optional: Sift powdered sugar over cooled cookies to give a frosty looking finish of sugar!

Am I missing where the cinnamon comes into the recipe?? Making these now but can’t find in the directions where the cinnamon goes. So excited to try these!
