We're making one of my favorite snacks today! These pecans are addicting and so easy to make.
This is a great snack anytime of the year and so convenient for on the go bites! The kids love munching on them on car rides too so I have to prep a bag just for them - 'cause they ain't touching my my bag.

Substitutions
- Almonds - if you want to try a different nut, you can try this recipe with almonds!
- Sugar - if you want to make this sugar free, you can use an alternative type of sugar like Stevia or Monk Fruit. Measurements will depend on what the packaging of your preferred sugar recommends as a ratio to brown sugar. NOTE: the flavor may adjust slightly if using a different sugar than brown sugar.
Variations
- Without Spice - remove the cayenne pepper from your recipe if you don't want that extra kick!
Equipment
I love my KitchenAid Standing Mixer, but if you don't have one, you can always use a Handheld mixer or try this recipe by hand with a large mixing bowl and a whisk!

Sweet Cinnamon Seasoned Pecans Recipe Card
Equipment
- 1 Standing Kitchen Aid Mixer or Handheld Electric Mixer
- 1-2 cast iron skillet Depending on the size, you may only need 1
- 1 Spatula
Ingredients
- 1 egg egg whites only
- 2 cups whole pecans
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 250℉
- Grab your Kitchen Aid Standing Mixer or Handheld Mixer and separate your egg so you only get the egg white contents in your mixing bowl. Put the egg whites into the KitchenAid bowl and mix on high speed until if becomes fluffy. Should take about 2 minutes.
- Once the desired texture is reached, add in the remaining ingredients and mix together on medium-slow speed. Should take about 1 minute.
- Once all the pecans are well covered, transfer the coated pecans into your Cast Iron Skillet and spread around so that each pecan has a space of its own. We don't want them overlapping or covering each other in the pan. You may need two Skillets depending on the size you have at home.
- Place pecans in the oven for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, remove and flip pecans in the Skillet to bake the other side. Throw back in the oven for another 30 minutes.
- Remove and let cool. Enjoy your snack!

Storage
- Cooling: Allow the sweet cinnamon seasoned pecans to cool completely to room temperature before storing them. This prevents condensation from forming inside the storage container, which can make the pecans soggy.
- Airtight Container: Transfer the cooled pecans to an airtight container or a sealable plastic bag. Make sure the container is large enough to hold the pecans without crushing them.
- Room Temperature: If you plan to consume the pecans within a week, you can store them at room temperature. Keep the container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
- Refrigeration: For longer-term storage, it's best to refrigerate the pecans. This helps to preserve their freshness and prevent them from going rancid. Place the sealed container of pecans in the refrigerator, where they can last for up to 2-3 weeks.
- Freezing (Optional): If you want to store the pecans for an extended period, you can freeze them. Place the cooled pecans in a freezer-safe container or a sealable freezer bag, removing as much air as possible before sealing. Frozen pecans can last for up to 6 months. When ready to use, thaw the pecans in the refrigerator overnight or at room temperature for a few hours.
- Avoid Moisture: To prevent the pecans from becoming soggy or stale, avoid storing them near moisture sources such as fruits or vegetables in the refrigerator.
- Reheating (Optional): Before serving, you can reheat the pecans in the oven at a low temperature (around 250°F or 120°C) for 10-15 minutes to restore their crispness and enhance their flavor.
FAQ
No you don't have to! I personally like the extra kick it adds to the sugar, but if you want to remove altogether, you can!
Yes you can! Depending on the sugar type, you may have to adjust the ratio. For example, using Stevia maybe require a fraction of the measurement of brown sugar in this recipe. I would defer to what the packaging of your sugar recommends.
