I made CEREAL! I saw this going around on the internet so I wanted to try it out and I made my own dang cereal bowl!
Great for any breakfast, cereal is one of my family's favorite breakfast options, especially the kids. I like knowing what's going into my kid's cereal, and with this recipe, I have complete knowledge.
This recipe was inspired by my recent breakfast recipe testing and honestly, my social media algorithm. I saw some other folks trying out popular homemade cereal and wanted to give my own spin a try! Some other recent breakfast recipes on this site include my Eggs, Bacon & Grits, Southern Style Pancakes, Flaky & Fluffy Croissants, and more!

Easy Homemade Flax Cereal
Equipment
- 1 Large Mixing Bowl
- 1 fork
- 1 Baking Sheet
- Parchment Paper
- 1 rubber spatula
- Cereal Storage Container I use a mason jar personally!
Ingredients
- 1 cup corn flour
- ½ cup almond flour
- ½ cup flax seed meal
- ¼ cup cane sugar
- 2 cups water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350℉. Grab your large mixing bowl and combine dry ingredients. Then add water.
- Mix together with a fork so you can mix those grains really well. Mix until you get a paste like texture. Should only be about a minute.
- Grab your baking sheet and cover with parchment paper. Using your rubber spatula, take some of the cereal mixture and spread very thinly across the parchment paper.
- Place baking sheet in oven and let cereal sheet bake for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from oven and lay on flat surface. You want the cereal sheet to be slightly golden brown and firm enough that you can break it up into flakes/smaller pieces. Place those flakes in a mason jar or cereal container and set aside. If there are parts that are still a little flimsy, put the flimsy parts back in the oven for another couple of minutes. You don't want to burn them, but you want them to be crunchy.
- Repeat this process until you've used up all of your wet cereal mixture. Grab a bowl, pour in some of your cereal and your preferred milk, and enjoy! I like to add some raisins and cranberries to my cereal to give it some more flavor.

What is corn flour? Thank you 😊
lilyloutay
It's like very fine corn meal! It's an entire dried corn kernel ground into a powder! It adds structure when baking something that doesn't have gluten.
Crunchy Mom
Also known as Masa. In my Walmart and Kroger it's with the Mexican spices and such. Get the white masa as opposed to the yellow.

My family loves that red berries cereal, but I hate buying box cereal for the reasons you stated. Made this, and put freeze dried strawberries in it. PROBLEM SOLVED! Thanks Hannah! It's delicious.

I make this, but I use corn meal, and love the texture! I also add a few dashes of cinnamon, sunflower seeds, and coconut flakes.
Try it, you can thank me later.
