Homemade Cheesy Bread
Say cheese!
This one was an experiment but I loved the way it turned out!
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoon sugar
- 2 cups warm water
- 2 tablespoon active yeast
- 4 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoon Garlic salt
- 1 tablespoon Everglades
- ½ a stick of butter
- 1 tablespoon Garlic powder
- Optional: Parsley for decoration
- Shredded cheese I use colby jack and mozzarella
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar, warm water and active yeast. Give it a nice stir.
- Set aside for 10 minutes and then add all purpose flour and salt. Mix together until you get a googey consistency for your dough.
- Cover your bowl of dough and let the dough rise for an hour.
- Once risen, oil hands and massage the dough.
- Add in 1 tablespoon of garlic salt and everglades and massage those in as well.
- Oil a deep dish baking sheet and place your dough in the sheet. Spread out so it covers the entire surface of the sheet.
- Cover the dough and set aside. Preheat oven to 350°F .
- In a small bowl, combine melted butter, 1 tablespoon garlic salt, and garlic powder. Then spread over top of dough.
- Make some holes with your finger tips throughout the surface so the butter gets into the dough when it's baking. This allows for it to be more flavorful and for the bread to turn out flatter so you're not getting an arched loaf of bread.
- Add optional topping of Parlsey.
- Place entire dish in the oven. Let bake for 15 minutes.
- Remove after 15 minutes and add your selected shredded cheese on top. This is supposed to be eye balled - if you want it cheesier, add more cheese across the surface of your bread.
- Put back in the oven on broil until the cheese has a soft brown surface. Enjoy!!

Do I need to store in the fridge ?
lilyloutay
Yes please store in the fridge! With the cheese, you don't want to leave dairy out!

What do you do if the dough isn't super gooey? Did I do something wrong?
lilyloutay
I suggest adding a teaspoon of water and kneading for a few minutes. See if that helps make it slightly gooey-er.

Only used 1 T garlic salt and 1/2 T of all purpose seasoning. And I used some Parmesan cheese and cheddar cheese. But this was so delicious!! Loved it!

I made the cheesy garlic bread and my family loved it! They loved the bread so much we decided to make a sweet version of it. So we made it into a cinnamon roll inspired bread! We made the dough per the recipe but massaged cinnamon and vanilla in to it before putting it in the dish. After making the dimples in the dough, we poured on a half stick of melted butter the covered it in cinnamon sugar. We repeated the dimpling process to get the cinnamon sugar into the dough and then baked it as directed. While that baked, we made some cream cheese icing: add 4oz softened cream cheese, 1/2 stick softened butter, 2 cups powdered sugar (approx 226g), 2 Tbsp heavy cream to a bowl and mix until smooth. Add the icing onto the hot cinnamon roll bake, enjoy hot!

So easy and cheesy! I’m making it for the second time tonight! I do have to bake longer at 350 but otherwise, no complaints! Thank you for this wonderful recipe!

Fabulous!!!! I changed up the seasoning as I don't have Everglades yet. Served it with potato ham sharp cheddar soup. My husband looked at me the way James looks at you. Thank you for the amazing recipes. Thank you for all your videos too. I just love watching the two of you. You make my heart happy.
