Homemade Apple Butter
If there was ever a time to eat your butter, it's now! This apple butter is so delicious to add to your biscuits, chicken, bread, apples - whatever you want to! Whenever you have some leftover apples that you're not quite sure what to do with, here's your answer, this Apple Butter recipe is your answer.
This is so easy to make and great during apple season! The apple taste adds to a lovely fall vibe too if you want throw it in as the seasons change and Thanksgiving approaches.
This was inspired by my Homemade Jam recipe on this site, and pairs well with my Classic Southern Biscuits recipe. I love using it for Apple Butter Chicken Biscuits.

Ingredients

6 large apples use your preferred kind of apples

1 cup brown sugar if you don't have any, mix together 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon of molasses

1 cup apple cider

1 tablespoon vanilla extract ....2 if you're sexy

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
-
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
-
1 handful cloves
-
2 sticks cinnamon
Directions
Start by slicing up your apples with your knife and cutting board. Once sliced, transfer to your large stovetop pot.
Add in your brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, cayenne pepper, cloves, and cinnamon sticks. Cover and cook on the stovetop on low heat for 1 hour.
After an hour, check on the apples. If they are looking soft and caramelized, that's great! Remove the cinnamon sticks.
Transfer the contents to a small/medium sized mixing bowl. Grab your immersion blender and mix everything until you get a thick looking applesauce.
Transfer your apple butter into a mason jar or container of your choosing and store in the refrigerator to cool and harden!
